  1. Add option to only show object name in nodes to be more printer friendly

Sometimes when printing a diagram, depending on the size of the diagram, the object name is very small and hard to read. Showing only the object name would give more room to allow the name to be larger and easier to read.

    Thank you.

  2. Persist the option to qualify object names. Currently it has to be reset on each app session

I do see the option to qualify object names, but it does not allow saving and has to be set every time the app is opened. It would be nice if the setting was persisted.

  3. Ignore indexes to hide circular relation in tables

In the diagrams it shows circular relation in tables and I believe it is because of the indexes in tables so it would be nice to hide those.

  4. Schema Diagram

Please give us a proper Schema Database Diagramming tool in here like SSMS but much better ! Use it for the documentation Tool as well. Visio left us high and dry and nothing out is very good.

  5. Remove or hide stalks

The "stalks" - handles on the sides of objects with a line & a circle on them - often overlap with the connecting lines and can be confusing. The ability to hide or show these (for screen & print) would make the diagrams more clean.

  6. Export to Excel

When you highlight an object have the option to export all dependant objects that uses or is used by the selected object to Excel as a list. The PDF and XML is fine as a report, but if you want a quick list of dependant objects to work with or share with someone it is too much

  7. Remember SQL Servers Used

Either allow SQL Servers to be saved in the "Available SQL Server Instances" for quick reference or auto-load your last saved project so they are saved there where it's quick and easy to access.

  8. Add the ability to add annotations above objects in the project

Sort of like the suggestion for an info field for an object, but visually think of being able to place text anywhere by an object and perhaps simple clipart like an arrow to point to the object that the annotation refers to.

  9. Export metrics

Since I'm using the tool to analyze and visualize large databases and their dependencies, it would be very useful to be able to export certain metrics of selected or all objects.
You already have a metric called "relative importance", but I have found no way to sort all the objects by this. Exporting this and other metrics would be extremely valuable to be able to further analyze the dependencies.

    Potential metrics could also include:
    - Number of dependencies
    - Number of dependents
    - Relative size (e.g. # of columns, number of lines for SPs)
    - Level in the hierarchy (how…

  10. Don't overwrite manually control of layout when adding an object

There are lots of layout options. Sometimes I lay things out just the way I want them. But when I add a new object, the layout changes completely. I want the ability to MANUALLY control the layout, and not have to do it all over when I add a new object.

  12. color dependencies by object type/reference

The diagram should color different object types (background or enclosing frame) an highlight external dependencies with a slightly different color.

  13. Computed Columns - Causes Self Reference

Problem with Dependency Tracker - If there are computed columns on a table it make self reference to itself. This should be optional or fixed as it is not a true self reference.

  14. OutOfMemory on large databases

I got OutOfMemory when trying to process a large database with lots of tables/user functions, stored procedures.

Please either make x64 bit version (preferred option) to allow usage of bigger memory amount or patch x86 version with editbin (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/14186256/net-out-of-memory-exception-used-1-3gb-but-have-16gb-installed)

P.S. As a workaround "editbin" hack can be used locally, not that's not very convenient

  16. Fix the Zoom with Mouse Wheel

you used to be able to Zoom in and out with Mouse Wheel. The standard behaviours is when pressing the 'Ctrl' key and using the mouse wheel you can zoom in and out on size scale, where the only thing that works now is the [+] and [-] buttons

  17. Command Line Options

I would like to see command line options for Dependency Tracker. We have automated build processes that make use of the XML export from Dependency Tracker. It would be great if we could trigger a refresh of the Dependency project and export XML as port of our automated build process.

  18. Option to ignore/hide tSQLt objects

Similar to SQL Compare, provide an option to ignore all Test (tSQLt) objects to improve performance and avoid cluttering the diagram.

  19. Able to import list of database object name from excel file to select them from Database

When the number of database object is too much, I need a feature to import an excel file that contains name of object, for example list of my stored procedure that I want to select from huge number of stored procedure in database

  20. Show FK names over dependency lines

On the lines between objects, it would be great to see the names of foreign key constraints. I know that 99% of other users would probably not care, since most people just take the default. But I craft mine to be very explanatory of why there is a relationship there, in the business sense.
